Scandinavia 2022 : Creative Climate Leadership Participants Announced

It’s been an incredibly difficult process to shortlist from a wealth of strong applicants but we are delighted to welcome and announce this year’s cohort of creative climate activists joining the Creative Climate Leadership community.

We are pleased to share the full applicants list of who will be joining us in Scandinavia for the 6th year of the CCL programme. We cannot wait to continue the conversation and start to collaborate together from today, 8th March.

‘The global climate crisis requires transformational leadership from every sector, including arts and culture. This year’s participants are leaders in their own right, representing a wide swath of artistic and cultural backgrounds, and I can’t wait to see how they’ll bring their practice to climate solutions, to address climate injustices and inspire action to impact future change”

– Charise Johnson, Programme Lead

What is Creative Climate Leadership?

Creative Climate Leadership in Scandinavia is a partnership that started two years ago between Julie’s Bicycle, visual artist and sustainability scientist Diego Galafassi and the Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies (LUCSUS); supported by the Swedish Postcode Foundation.

Creative Climate Leadership (CCL) is an international training and transformation programme to empower artists and cultural professionals to take action on the climate and ecological crisis with impact, creativity, and resilience.

This year the programme will happen remotely from March to June. This year’s candidates work in areas as varied as cultural policy, film, museums, dance, choreography, photography, cinematography, music, performance, event production and ecology.

The Aims of the Program

Creative Climate Leadership will:

  • Explore the role of culture and creativity in responding to climate change and environmental challenges;
  • Bring together a range of expert guest speakers to share case studies, research, approaches and practical solutions for environmental sustainability in the cultural sector;
  • Enable each participant to develop their leadership and ideas;
  • Prepare participants to apply their learning and new skills when they return to their work, and support ongoing learning and exchange through an alumni network.
  • CCL recognises the unique role of culture to influence new ways of being, doing and thinking, and supports creative professionals to apply these abilities to the climate challenge through a programme of events, training programmes and policy labs.
