"For me, creative climate leadership is to shed light on how climate and environmental issues are linked to social issues such as discrimination, racism, and resource distribution. This work is linked to feminist, decolonial, and queer practices. It includes engaging in radical listening, learning from ancient and contemporary knowledge, and initiating cross-disciplinary collaborations."

Project Highlights

Relative Distance

As part of a long-term collaboration with The Emotion in Conflict lab at The Hebrew University, the artist Einat Amir and the empathy researcher Yossi Hasson created a participatory performance combined with real-time psychological research. “Relative Distance” deals with the way minoritized populations are discriminated against in the context of COVID medical assistance and prevention. The systemic racism in medical care and unequal distribution is linked to climate justice, specifically environmental racism. It is directly linked to how marginalized populations are denied safe environments that support their health and well-being. The project consisted of one-on-one performative meetings between performers and audience members, through an online platform. Initiated by Kampnagel Theater, Hamburg 2021.

Supported by: Körber-Stiftung, Kampnagel Hamburg, Artport Tel Aviv, Hyde Park Art Center.

The project consisted of one-on-one conversations between performers and audience members and was shown at Links Hall in Chicago, in Collaboration with Hyde Park Art Center, in May 2018. “As Much as You Want” deals with American citizens’ empathy level and willingness to assist Syrian refugees that arrived in the US, and touches upon questions about the refugees’ possibilities for sustainable life and their access to resources.

Basic Assumption

As part of a long-term collaboration with The Emotion in Conflict lab at The Hebrew University, the artist Einat Amir and the empathy researcher Yossi Hasson created a participatory performance combined with real-time psychological research. “Basic Assumption” aims to raise the empathy of Jewish-Israelis towards Palestinians through talking about medical and housing challenges that Palestinians face. These challenges are told in first-person by Palestinian and Israeli actors. This performance experiment is a large-scale production that took place at Mekudeshet Festival, Jerusalem and involved around 40 performers and attracted hundreds of visitors.
