How Can CCL Benefit Your Organisation?
Do you have a colleague or artist you are working with who will benefit from the Creative Climate Leadership training course?
The creative and cultural community have a unique and critical role in responding to climate change. At a time of complexity, uncertainty, and rapid change, it is imperative that cultural organisations decide on their response and act. They need to possess the understanding and expertise to explore opportunities and tackle the risks and challenges they face.
The Creative Climate Leadership 1-week training course taking place in March 2017 supports cultural professionals to develop practical approaches to environmental sustainability, with materials, tools, coaching and mentoring support and an international community of artists and cultural professionals to lean on.
The course will relate to relevant policy developments and environmental targets, such as the implementation of The Paris Agreement 2°C limit on global warming, tackle common challenges such as limited budgets and making the case for sustainability, provide a source of inspiration directly from the creative community and a context for testing new approaches.
Develop Creative Climate Leadership in your organisation
Attending the Creative Climate Leadership (CCL) course is a long-term investment in the progress and resilience of your organisation. It will enable a participant from your team to identify opportunities where action on environmental sustainability will lead to greater impact and improvement in your organisation and learn new approaches to tackle challenges you’re facing.
Participants are encouraged to bring a live project they’re working on to develop over the course of the programme. For organisations, that might include involving environmental factors in your creative programme, fundraising for redevelopment and resources or reducing energy emissions in your venue or building. We also ask all participants to hold a dissemination event when they return to their creative community, to share their knowledge and learning.
Who should apply?
Creatives
Your team responsible for programming, production and creative development of new work would benefit from CCL by exploring environment as a creative topic as well as how to consider environmental impacts when producing and touring work.
If you’re working with an associate artist or musician, you could support their attendance to prioritise the environment in their creative projects.
Operations
Your operations team would benefit from CCL in tackling challenges around integrating sustainability into your organisational practices, and training the organisation’s team to adapt and embrace environmental priorities in how they work.
Management
Your Senior Management Team would benefit from CCL by understanding how to integrate and elevate environmental sustainability in organisational strategy and prioritise sustainability and divestment with your Board and external partners.
The course is open to anyone working in the creative and cultural sector, so we are open to applicants from all departments and roles.
The first international Creative Climate Leadership training course will take place from 27th – 31st March 2017 at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth, Wales. It will be facilitated by Julie’s Bicycle, a UK charity with ten years experience working on environmental issues in the cultural sector, and PiNA, a sustainable development NGO based in Slovenia.
The course costs £1,000 or €1,200 including all accommodation, food, teaching, resources and mentoring for the week. Costs of travel are not included. Selected applicants will have the opportunity to apply for a grant and a year of mentoring to continue developing their work after the course.
